Province charts new blueprint to diversify economy

Alberta’s PC government plans to rapidly implement recommendations of a $1.2-million report to overhaul its innovation and technology sector and develop a clear path to diversify the economy, says the premier.

Dave Hancock told the Herald he is determined to get a process in place within six months to spearhead the economic diversification that has been attempted with poor results under previous Tory regimes.

“Much of what we need is already there, so it’s not a matter of blowing the system up and redoing it,” he said Tuesday in an interview.
