Survey reveals depths of frustration felt by flood victims

Victims of the 2013 southern Alberta flooding remain frustrated and confused by the province’s Disaster Relief Program, in spite of government efforts to speed up its response to funding applications.

That’s according to a new survey of approximately 150 flood victims in Calgary, Bragg Creek, High River, Exshaw, and Kananaskis, conducted by the Calgary River Communities Action Group in December. The organization, which lobbies on behalf of flood-affected residents and communities, wanted to see if additional program resources announced by the province in September had improved the DRP or whether applicants were still struggling.
