Calgary-based Mainstreet Equity expands in B.C.

Calgary-based Mainstreet Equity Corporation has expanded its portfolio of rental properties in British Columbia with the purchase of a 331-unit, five-building apartment complex in the Greater Vancouver Area.

The company announced Monday the purchase price was $33.7 million or $102,000 per unit for the property in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey.

Mainstreet now owns and manages more than 2,700 apartment units in Vancouver/Lower Mainland B.C., which comprise about 30 per cent of the company’s total portfolio, said Bob Dhillon, Mainstreet’s chief executive.
