Up, up and up.
The hard-hats, safety-vests and steel-toed boots turned corner after corner, climbing past open floors and views of future homes. Then past the floors reinforced with braces as concrete cured. And on through the orange-sheeted world of the top floor, wrapped in tarps with heaters blasting. A step outside, then up a ladder and onto the roof, with downtown Calgary’s skyscrapers and the mountains touching pale blue sky to the west, the Bow winding past to north and the view of shaggy-tree neighbourhoods and grass-topped Nose Hill Park to the north.
